Apparel, Made-ups and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMHSSC) is working to set standard and uniformity across country in skill development for apparel sector.
A Sakthivel Chairman of Council told, “Under the scheme, fresh trainees would get a cash reward of Rs 6,000 to Rs 12,000 each depending upon the skill levels for training and certification.” Dr Roopak Vasishtha, CEO, AMHSSC, said the Council’s certificate would be a great boon as the government had decided that no persons will be allowed to go abroad without a skilled certificate from January, 2017. Indian apparel manufacturing industry is struggling for skilled labor. India has only three per cent skilled manpower while country like South Korea has 97 per cent of the same.
