Walmart plans to install up to 400 new solar projects at stores and facilities across the nation during the next four years as it has tapped SolarCity and SunEdison, (solar energy providers for the installations) following an RFP process. Till now, Walmart has installed approximately 260 solar projects in the US and its commercial solar deployment is now 105 MW, and has resulted in more than US $ 5 million savings in energy expenses. It will advance Walmart’s global commitment to drive the production or procurement of 7 billion kWh of renewable energy by the end of 2020, and its goal to supply 100 per cent renewable energy.
