Most Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) are recognizing companies based on turnovers, though there are many other exporters who may be small but are doing excellent work in various categories/areas like sustainability, niche products, new processes, innovative working styles…, etc. Do you think that ‘turnover’ alone should be the criteria for awards… If yes, why; and if no, what are the areas that need to be acknowledged and need encouragement?

Year 2016 is all set to bid adieu, paving way for 2017 – with all its promises, hopes, aspirations and challenges – to take over. If 2016 was an ‘eventful year’ for the apparel industry, the New Year will hold ‘unknown possibilities’… Please share with AOB what were the pitfalls of the year 2016 and despite these difficulties what were your achievements? You must have also set some goals to realize in 2017. What are they?

Union Minister of Textiles, Smriti Irani, has said that the Government can impose Dumping Duty on fabric imported from China as it is working on a policy to stem the flow of cheap clothes into the Indian market. The MMF sector has been demanding for the same from a long time. Being a fabric producer/apparel exporter, what is your take if our Government executes this policy, and how will it affect the industry?

2016 was a year of happening all around… There was a special package for Indian apparel exporters; India got new and active Textile Minister; Government of India pursued with economic reforms; various states became more active to fetch investments in textiles and apparel sectors, besides associations like AEPC, TEA and GEAR got new heads. Brexit and US elections also took place… What kind of overall impact of these initiatives/changes will have in 2017? How do you see 2016 for our industry? Even in 2017 we will be moving closure to cut on subsidies. Do you have any prediction about the coming year?
