According to the National Council of Textile Organization (NCTO), textile and apparel sector in the US has employed 565,000 workers in the year 2016.
During 2016, 113,900 jobs were created in yarns and fabrics sector; 115,000 in home furnishings, carpet, and other non-apparel sewn products; 131,300 in apparel manufacturing; 25,700 in man-made fibres; 126,600 in cotton farming and related industry; and 52,500 in wool growing and related industry.

It may be noted here that retail industry employment in the USA has increased by 39,400 jobs in January 2017 over December 2016, making up nearly a fifth of the 227,000 jobs added to the nation’s economy in the first month of 2017. Out of these 39,400 jobs, clothing sector witnessed gains by 17,000 jobs.
