Organized by ASK Trade & Exhibitions, the 3th edition of LEATHERTECH Bangladesh concluded successfully recently and attracted 4,215 visitors. The international tradeshow organized in Hall No. 3 and 4, at International Convention City, Bashundara, Dhaka (Bangladesh) focused on machinery, components, chemicals & accessories, leather for footwear and leather goods segment witnessed widest range of machinery, component, dyes, accessories, etc. on display. Industry leaders appreciated the event for bringing global technology closer to the local users. Also, a Buyer-Seller Meet organized along with the fair also noted good business transactions.
LEATHERTECH Bangladesh was inaugurated by Md. Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, Secretary, Ministry of Industries with M. Rafeeque Ahmed, Chairman, Council for Leather Exports (CLE) India as Special Guest, in the presence of Md. Saiful Islam, President, Leather goods & Footwear Manufacturers & Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB); Engr. Mohammed Abu Taher, Chairman, Bangladesh Finished Leather, Leather goods & Footwear Exporters Association (BFLLEFA); Md. Shaheen Ahamed, Chairman, Bangladesh Tanners Association (BTA); Aqeel Ahmed, Regional Chairman (South), Council for Leather Exports (CLE), India; and Vipan Seth, President, Indian Footwear Components Manufacturers Association (IFCOMA).

There were 140 exhibitors (25% more than last year) at the show from Turkey, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Italy, Singapore and Japan, with a 50-member strong pavilion from India under CLE and IFCOMA. A large pavilion from China was also there at the three-day event showcasing machinery for tanning leather, manufacturing footwear and leather goods along with components, dyes & chemicals, accessories and allied products to benefit all sectors of the leather industry.
An experiment which became highlight at the LEATHERTECH Bangladesh was the Buyer-Seller Meet (BSM), organized in co-operation with LFMEAB, head of procurement and sourcing from leading manufacturers like Leatherex, Scarpe-E-Moda, Jennys Shoes, FB Footwear, Landmark Footwear, PICARD met exhibitors at the meet. Around 100 one-one-one meetings resulted in good exchange of information about the products offered by suppliers and the need of buyers. Based on the positive outcome, it is being proposed to extend this activity in an organized manner in the next edition.
The next edition of LEATHERTECH Bangladesh is scheduled to be held from November 3-5, 2016, at the same venue.

Commenting on the Leather industry and fair M. Rafeeque Ahmed said, “I am taken over by the sense of optimism expressed by all industry leaders. I see lot of potential for co-operation and collaboration between Indian and Bangladesh as we need to gear up to take the opportunity which is likely to emerge in the wake of space vacated by China.
