Among the numerous flat knitting machines showcased by various companies at the fair, Omex Mechanical Works received the major share of inquiries being one of the oldest suppliers in the region with a good track record. Omex has been catering to all kinds of flat knitting needs of Ludhiana since 1973, and not only provides flat knits for collar, cuffs and sleeves but also the necessary spare parts for various types of knitting machines.
At the fair the company showcased the semi computerized flatbed knitting machine. The machine offers knitting width ranging from 28 to 110 inches and is available in 5 to 15 gauges as well. The machine, which is quite versatile and works in all tough and demanding conditions without consistent temperature or humidity control, is capable of knitting Lycra yarns and a single operator can easily operate 4 such machines at a time.
The knitting speed is 0.8-1.0 metre per second depending on the gauge, yarn count and knitting conditions, and with 4 or 6 feeders racking is possible from ½ to 1 and 1 to 5P. The computer operated machine uses needle with high or low butts. The machine automatically cuts off power when temperature or the voltage exceeds beyond set limits. The machine also cuts the power off when needle breakage occurs, fabric falls down, yarns breaks or even when the machine encounters any knot or when the user gets a shock. The machine resumes from the exact place from where it had stopped after an auto stop takes place.
Harish Daffu representing Omex Mechanical Works was very enthusiastic about his new launch. “The machine and technology provided by Omex provides not only good quality but out of league technology,” says Daffu. He adds that the company also provides sensor system, high power motors, and needles from the Groz Beckert and high-end software which are very rarely found in Ludhiana market of flat knitting machines.
