Summer 05 – The Trends in Sportswear
The sportswear
collections of the sports and lifestyle companies show sporty casualwear,
inspired by the club sports tennis and golf, as well as elements from
outdoor and fitness. Polo shirts are a key item in many collections. Regardless
of whether for women or men, they are interpreted in many different ways:
sometimes conventionally in piqué with refined embroidery, sleeveless
with clear logo print, in marine look with small rings or wide block stripes.
There are pants to accompany them with a loose fit for men and knee-length
skirts for women. While the colors for women are somewhat more subdued,
there are glowing colors for men such as citrus and turquoise. Jackets,
which defy bad weather even in summer, bring design elements from the
outdoor sports into the game and provide light weather protection in fashionable
looks.
The current
sportswear collections can be seen within the framework of ispo summer
05 in the special community sportswear_ispo in Hall A2, especially during
the fashion shows which take place daily, as well as at ispovision in
Hall A1 at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre from July 3 to 5, 2005.
Materials
/ Cuts / Shapes
Women:
The topic of
skirts is coming from women’s outerwear into sportswear next summer. Usually
knee-length, flared or with wide pleats, they are well suited to summer
in pure cotton or in blends with linen. The more sporty models from outdoor-inspired
collections have knee to calf lengths and are made of fast-drying microfibers
with belt loops, cargo pockets and drawstrings. Pants are either sporty
in Capri, Bermuda or 1/1 lengths, made of cotton blends or microfibers,
with straight legs or boot cut and cargo pockets. Or they come from the
fitness sector with flowing, elastic materials, with waistband solutions
made of wide-ribbed knitwear or with tunnel waist drawcords. Denims are
extensively embroidered or richly decorated with chain stitches, peal
appliqués or rhinestones next summer. They are enzyme-washed to a great
extent, light and used, so that they do not look too affected.
In addition,
there is the main topic of polo in infinite varieties without sleeves
or as short sleeve models. Besides piqué, flowing jerseys are really trendy,
made of pure cotton with a blend of elastane or fast-drying functional
fibers. Conventional T-shirts are refined with high-quality materials,
finely combed cotton, intricate prints with logos, numbers or blossoms,
in part with additional outline embroidery or sassy sayings. Blouses are
important too. Short sleeves with appliqués or prints and knits in marine
or polo style compete with casual models made of cotton and seersucker,
which bring checkered patterns from outdoor clothing.
There is a wide
selection of jackets for cool summer days. Blouses or jackets in uniform
style come from the clubs, sweaters with zippers from the fitness area
with and without hoodies, but always with a wide band at the hems and
sleeves. And it becomes sporty with soft shell variants or water-resistant
laminates, which you can wear in the city exactly as well as when you
are on the road.
Men:
The shapes are
somewhat looser for men in the summer 2006. Bermudas, ¾ pants or long
models can be loose without appearing sloppy. The cuts: 5-pocket pants,
cargos with pockets on the outside, pleats or casual with waistband drawcord.
Stripes with contrasting colors on the side seams make it sporty. The
materials: Cotton or linen, sometimes with blend of elastane. In addition
to polo shirt variants, other shirts also play a big role. Long-sleeved
shirts are becoming quite popular, with hidden half-belts for rolling
up the sleeves. Shirts for wearing in the city have stripes, uni-colors
with prints or embroidery, or come in sporty checkered variants. Sweaters
are made of light, fine cotton with V-neck and bands in club style made
of fashionable fibers, while jackets have an outdoor look with waxed cotton,
microfibers or laminates.
Colors
/ Patterns
Floral patterns
borrowed from beachwear remain a sportswear topic. However, they are no
longer placed all-over, but instead are placed at specific spots. The
prints have a graphic and clear effect and also have fine embroidery.
Stripes will play a main role next summer: horizontal for polo shirts
and T-shirts, and vertical for other shirts and even pants. Argyles for
knitwear produce a club look, and there are club style checkered patterns
for pants, interpreted casually and with faded colors.
Acidic,
clear tones such as lime, grass-green with white, or blue to turquoise,
azure and indigo are the new sporty colors, which provide company for
the classic marine, red and white. Fruit colors from orange to red berry
or pink are used for beach-inspired topics. African influences can be
seen with mocha, chocolate and sun-red. But the colors are more subdued
in the elegant styles for women: nude colors, sand and skin tones or mother-of-pearl
are blended here with pastel shades such as lilac, rosé and violet.
Lime, grass-green,
pink and turquoise combined with beige or mocha are the colors for men
with fashion courage.
