Carrefour SA, after years of negotiations with several potential Indian partners, has finally joined hands with Kishore Biyani’s Future Group. As per the deal, Future Group will open 150 to 300 Carrefour-branded hypermarkets in the next five years.
Future Group is also planning to enter into real estate development through Pantaloon Retail’s demerged subsidiary, consolidating his land holdings further. Pantaloon is also setting up of a 50:50 JV with UK-based shoe manufacturer C & J Clark International. The joint venture would also engage in wholesaling of Clark’s branded footwear and associated products in India.
